As you may all know, Apple has released iOS 8.2 just two days ago. While it did bring a significant new feature and plenty of fixes and improvements, it is not without its problems. Some users who have upgraded their device to iOS 8.2 are apparently experiencing some problems with the Safari web browser.
The Safari issues with iOS 8.2 have a few variations, but the most typical ones are when the browser fails to launch, frequently crashes, becomes unresponsive, and loads blank pages. If you are someone who’s experiencing these Safari issues with iOS 8.2, then you might want to try the following fixes below:
Clear Web Data
It’s a common troubleshooting step to clear web data including site information, history, cache, and cookies whenever a browser is having problems. We’ll do the same thing for Safari. Follow these steps:
- Launch the Settings app, then go to Safari
- Scroll a little bit down and tap the Clear History and Website Data option, and confirm.
Once you have cleared Safari, manually quit the app through the App Switcher (just swipe up on the app). Launch Safari again or you may also reboot your device for good measure.
Reset & Restore the Device
Resetting and restoring an iDevice is never fun which is why you should treat this as a last resort. First, you might want to try resetting your device (perform a backup first) to its factory settings by navigating to Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
If you are going the restore route, backup your iPhone or iPad via iTunes and/or iCloud, restore to iOS 8.2 via iTunes, and restore your backups.
Use an Alternative Browser like Chrome
If clearing web data doesn’t work for you or you are unable to perform a restore or reset, then why not use an alternative browser for the meantime? While waiting for a fix from Apple, you can use an alternative browser like Chrome for iOS, which is a pretty good browser anyway.
For the most part, the clearing of web data step should work for most people. Did these solutions work for you? Let us know in the comments.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
