Winterboard is Now Finally Updated for iOS 8

Winterboard is definitely the go-to app when it comes to installing themes on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. Theme enthusiasts who have moved on to iOS 8 unfortunately can’t have their favorites themes since Winterboard has not been updated for iOS 8. Well, until now that is! That’s right, Saurik just updated WinterBoard for iOS 8. Themers rejoice!

Winterboard for iOS 8 Update
Aside from the compatibility update, Winterboard for iOS 8 has some significant changes under the hood but perhaps the most noteworthy is that it’s not a standalone app anymore. If you can’t find Winterboard on your Springboard, this is because of this update. Instead, a dedicated panel for Winterboard has been added in the Settings app. The version now reads 0.9.3916. Below is the complete change log:

  • x: Support @3x Image Hunting
  • x: Theme .car File PNGs (coolstar)
  • x: Preferences Icons (JunesiPhone)
  • x: Better SharedArtwork Hook
  • Better Resource Pathing (Surenix)
  • New @3x WinterBoard Icon (Surenix)
  • Fix Crash in Bundle Theme Cache
  • Remove Standalone Application
  • Image Recorder Now Uses Bundles

Although Winterboard is now finally compatible with iOS 8, don’t assume that you can say the same thing with the themes. Even though some of the themes will work, some aspects of them might not. And there’s the issue with compatibility with newer devices such as the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. With that said, we recommend that you check whether or not your favorite themes have been updated for iOS 8 before you proceed to install them. [via iDownloadBlog]

Well I know how to remove the locekcrsen clock and unlock slide, but how do you change the city of the weather widget for some of the locekcrsen themes? For example, the LS city daynight theme says Milan at the bottom. Is there any way to change the city name for these types of themes?
