iOS 8.1.1 Update Released for iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch [Direct DL]

After two weeks of beta testing, Apple has finally seeded iOS 8.1.1 to the general public. As you might have guessed from the numbered update, iOS 8.1.1 is a minor update that aims to fix some bugs and security issues and provide improvements to performance and stability on the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S. Read below for more details about this firmware update as well the iOS 8.1.1 download links.

Based on the release notes, iOS 8.1.1 provides a number of bug fixes and gives better stability to the system. It’s also worth noting that the update also includes performance enhancements for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 (both the oldest devices capable to run iOS 8). But there are videos floating around showing that there are barely any significant improvements. The official release notes read:

This release includes bug fixes, increased stability and performance improvements for iPad 2 and iPhone 4s.

As per usual, jailbreakers should stay away from iOS 8.1.1 since the firmware update breaks the iOS 8 Pangu jailbreak. If you do not care about jailbreaking, then iOS 8.1.1 is now available via OTA. We highly recommend that you update your device if you have no plans to jailbreak. If somehow you can’t update via OTA, we have provided direct download links for the iOS 8.1.1 IPSW.
