BBM for iPhone is Now Live at the App Store, Download Now!

There has been a time that BlackBerry ruled the smartphone industry. Before WhatsApp and iMessage, folks have been widely using BlackBerry Messenger or BBM to message their contacts without counting against their carrier allocations. Back in May, BlackBerry announced their plan to release BBM in other platforms such as iOS and Android. Last month, BBM was rolled out to iOS but it was quickly pulled due to server issues. Today, BBM fans will be happy to know that BBM for iPhone is now available once again.

In BlackBerry's official blog, the company announced that it will be resuming the rollout of BBM for iPhone and Android.

I am thrilled to tell you that we are about to officially resume our rollout of BBM for Android and iPhone customers around the globe! In the next few hours, people will start seeing BBM in Google Play, the App Store and in select Samsung App Stores – where it will be free to download.

But as mentioned, it seems BlackBerry is not yet equipped to handle the surge of traffic to the servers, so this will be a staggered rollout. iOS users can now download BBM for iPhone via the iTunes App Store for free (download link below). Here are the features of BBM for iPhone as per App Store description:

•Chat with friends on iPhone and other smartphones

•BBM lets you protect your privacy. You control it.

•Chat and share with many at once.

•Create your own BBM profile.

Chat with friends on iPhone and other smartphones:

•BBM is always on and always connected – no app to open

•Know when messages have been delivered (D’s) and read (R’s)

•Share photos, files, documents, voice notes and more

•See when contacts are responding to your message

•Emoticons for every mood and emotion let you express yourself

BBM lets you protect your privacy. You control it:

•You chose how to share your information - BBM uses PINs instead of phone numbers or email addresses so that it's more private, and you always control who can contact you

•You chose your contacts – 2-way opt-in means you have control over who is able to message you

Chat and Share with many at once:

•Groups – BBM groups help you share pictures, lists, and appointments with group members. You can even be in a group with people who aren't part of your own BBM contact list.

•Multi-person chats – Invite multiple contacts to have a chat together.

•Broadcast messages – Send a message to multiple BBM contacts at one time.

Create your own BBM profile:

•Post a profile picture using images, pictures or even animated pictures (GIFs).

•Update your status to let people know what you’re up to or how you feel

So if you have been waiting to grab BBM for iPhone for quite some time, then the best chance would be now. Hopefully, this is indeed official with no hiccups along the way. Use the download link below to grab BBM for iPhone.

Alan BudgeNovember 28, 2012 at 9:16 pm Loving what I hear about BBM10, only now wondering wethher to stick to the physical keyboard as per my 9900 or go for the bigger screen. Interesting to see it next to a Note2. Tried out a friends and loved it. Will probably stick to BB regardless but would love to see a Note-sized BlackBerry.
