Before iOS 7 was released, there were talks that prominent members of the jailbreak community will release an untethered solution for iOS 6.1.3 / 6.1.4 firmware. In case you are one of the few who did not update your device to iOS 7 and stayed on iOS 6.1.3 / 6.1.4 hoping for a jailbreak, we have a bit of good news for you.
iH8sn0w, known developer of popular jailbreak tools such as Sn0wbreeze and iFaith, has just confirmed all the components for an untethered 6.1.3/6.1.4 for all devices is already there. However, it seems that some bugs are still being ironed out.
From iH8sn0w blog:
Everything for a 6.1.3/6.1.4 A5+ jailbreak is there. We're focusing on fixing bugs that occur internally. These range from Applications automatically deleting themselves from the uicache to iMessage/Facetime activations not working (even on legit sims). As far as a time frame goes for fixing these bugs, we have no idea. We're not lying. Its not like we got a progress bar going up every few minutes or something :P. I'll try to update this specific post as more things progress.
Since the jailbreak will work even on A5+ devices, expect that it will be released for the following devices running iOS 6.1.4 / iOS 6.1.3:
- iPhone 5, iPhone 4s, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS
- iPad 4, iPad mini, iPad 3, iPad 2
- iPod touch 5G, iPod touch 4G
So you may ask, why not just save the exploit for iOS 7? Well, that's not possible since the exploits do not work on iOS 7. Here's the jailbreak in action.
iH8sn0w also gave an insight to the state of the iOS 7 jailbreak.
Before you start wanting an iOS 7 jailbreak, you should know that lots of things are currently broken in iOS 7. To list a few: Cydia, MobileSubstrate, and WinterBoard. Not really worth pushing anything at the moment until these issues are sorted out.
There is still no concrete release date for the iOS 6.1.3. / 6.1.4 jailbreak but iH8sn0w will surely keep us updated.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
