It is widely expected that Apple is set to unveil both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C (low-cost iPhone) during an iPhone media event, which will take place on September 10th. There have been several reports pointing to the possibility Apple might release a gold-toned iPhone 5S, on top of the usual black and white color options. So when can we expect the new iPhones to go on sale? A new report claims that both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C will launch on September 20.
According to a report by Nikkei (via CNET), a Japanese business newspaper, the new iPhones will be sold in Japan on September 20. As reported by CNET:
New iPhones will arrive in Japan on September 20 with a gold iPhone 5S option in tow, Japan’s Nikkei reported Wednesday.
SoftBank and KDDI will handle sales of the iPhone 5S and 5C, according to Japan’s largest business daily. NTT Docomo is not expected to sell the new iPhones, Nikkei added. [..]
[..] In addition to the conventional black and white models, a new “champagne gold” will be offered, the newspaper said. This reinforces widely-reported rumors about that color option for the iPhone 5S.
The 5S is expected to come with an upgraded processor and camera as well as fingerprint reader integrated into the home button, according to the report. Again, echoing recent reports.
This pegged launch date actually does make a lot of sense since Apple has developed the habit of releasing next-gen handsets the next Friday after the initial announcement. As stated, the announcement for the new iPhones will take place on September 10th.
The report also mentioned the iPhone 5S will come in a new “champagne gold” color option, which has certainly found its way into the headlines as of late. As for the iPhone 5C, it is expected to come in multiple colors, with internals similar to iPhone 5 but with a polycarbonate shell.
September 10 will come soon enough, so we can finally put these rumors at rest.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
