We've been hearing more and more reports regarding Apple's budget iPhone. For some reason, the rumor mill has dubbed the upcoming low-cost model to be the "iPhone 5C". The iPhone 5C allegedly will have plastic-made housing and that it will come in numerous color options. Now a rumor just popped up that the budget iPhone might be equipped with an 8-megapixel camera, same with the iPhone 5.
According to Chinese site IT168, it's a possibility that the upcoming entry-level iPhone will come equipped with the same 8-megapixel sapphire crystal-covered camera which the iPhone 5 has. The website shared an image of a camera module allegedly for the iPhone 5C. On closer look, the module looks quite similar to the iPhone 5's existing camera module.
There have been reports that Apple will likely incorporate a 12-megapixel camera to the iPhone 5S, which will help improve low light photography. Although it is universally referred to as the "budget iPhone" and having a plastic shell, the iPhone 5C is said to share numerous characteristics with the existing iPhone 5. Using similar parts will save Apple the trouble of sourcing new materials. There have been reports as well that the low-cost iPhone is intended to replace the iPhone 5.
According to the most recent rumors, the low-cost iPhone, alongside the iPhone 5S, will launch in early September. As for the price, there have been speculations that it will fall in the $350 to $450 price range for the unlocked model. In the coming months, it is fair to expect an official announcement soon.
