Yesterday, we've brought to you a report that Apple will likely release iOS 7 beta 6 next week. In a rather surprising move, the Cupertino company seeded the sixth beta version of iOS 7 to developers registered to the iOS Developer Program. If you are a developer, we suggest you download the update now.
As mentioned, the release of iOS 7 beta 6 (build 11A4449d) comes off as a surprise as it is widely expected that Apple will seed it no sooner than next week, the soonest would be Monday. The gap between beta releases have been two weeks at least, but not for iOS 7 beta 6, which dropped only 10 days since the last beta. So why did Apple release the sixth iOS 7 beta sooner than expected? Apparently, it is an emergency fix for an issue found in iTunes in the Cloud.
This update addresses an issue with iTunes in the Cloud, where some purchases may download or play unexpected items. If you have any devices running previous versions of iOS 7 beta, you must:
- Install iOS 7 beta 6
- Install the ResetMusicAndVideosLibraries configuration profile
- From Settings > Music, tap the Reset Media Library button
- Restart the device
iOS 7 beta 6 is available via OTA (13.5mb on the iPhone 5), as well direct download (direct links are provided below) but you have to be a registered developer. Beta 6 supports the following devices:
