Citing their sources, AllThingsD reports Apple will unveil its next flagship phone during a special event which will take place on September 10th.

The launch comes at an important time for Apple, which continues to make a lot of money from the iPhone but has seen its global market share dip amid a growing wave of lower-cost Android devices as well as an intense battle with archrival Samsung.
The report has made no mention of the actual launch date of the new iPhone. In addition, there is still no solid indication that Apple will indeed announce the rumored budget iPhone or 'iPhone 5C' during the special. However, with the number of leaks and reports about the iPhone 5C, there's a high chance that it will be included in the announcements as well.
With the date pegged at September 10th, one can say that Apple is still right on track with its usual release pattern. First, the company will debut its new software update during the June developer conference, put it on beta for a couple of months, then release the final version a couple of weeks ahead of a new iPhone.
