If you are acquainted with the jailbreak scene for quite some time now, then you are no doubt familiar with iOS hacker Joshua Hill, better known as p0sixninja. As a member of the prominent hacker collective Chronic-Dev Team, he played a big role that paved the way for the release of several previous jailbreaking methods. So what's he up to lately? Apparently, Hill is working on a new project which is much bigger than jailbreaking.
If you're wondering what exactly OpenJailbreak is, iFans have learned that it will be an open source jailbreak repository which will managed by a team spearheaded by Hill himself. One of the more prominent members of the team is renowned graphic designer Thientam Bach aka Surenix who's in the process of developing the website for the repository.
Essentially it’s going to be a repository of open source jailbreak components that I created over the years,” claims Hill. “So much of my code has been hacked up and incorporated into other projects, it’s becoming very fragmented. There’s no central repository to maintain all this code, to allow other developers to submit patches or help layout a roadmap for what new features and abilities will be added in the future.
In the long run, OpenJailbreak will allow users to contribute and learn from the code which will surely benefit the broader jailbreaking community. This could result to cross-collaboration which could give way to quicker discovery of future jailbreak exploits.
Obviously, these alone do not constitute things that are “bigger than jailbreak” but according to Hill, “this is just a small part of an ultimate plan.” So what exactly does P0sixninja have up his sleeve? Could it be a bootroom exploit? There seems to be a lot of interesting things brewing behind the jailbreaking scene, more information about OpenJailbreak should be disseminated soon so be sure to keep your eyes peeled.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
