We all know that a new iPhone is bound to be released in the coming months. The rumor mills say the next iPhone will be the iPhone 5S and it will be a slightly upgraded version of the iPhone 5. One aspect of iPhone 5S, which was heavily speculated in the past is its release date. And to add to that, an analyst says that Apple will commence iPhone 5S production at the end of this month.
Jefferies analyst Peter Misek is no stranger when it comes to speculations and predictions with regards to Apple's plans. This time in a research note to clients, Misek claims that mass production for the iPhone 5S will start later this month with a release date pegged for late September or early October.
Misek also adds that the widely rumored budget iPhone has already entered production phase. Projected price for the entry-level iPhone will likely be sold for the unsubsidized price range of $300-$400. For that price, it should fall right into the mid-tier category, but according to Misek, "it will not be competitive in emerging markets."
Misek estimates that Apple is going to put in orders of 50-55 million iPhones for the fourth quarter. 5 million for the iPhone 4S, 20 million for the budget iPhone and 25 million iPhone 5S.
Misek doesn't exactly have a flawless track record when it comes Apple-related reports but a late September iPhone 5S release would make sense as it falls in line with iOS 7's public release. [via Business Insider]Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
