Some of the more popular jailbreak tweaks are those that allow the user to view more information at a given time. Instead of launching multiple apps and settings just to view certain information, it's generally better if they're collated within an easy-to-access element of iOS. This way, acquiring information is convenient, efficient, and a real time-saver. If you have an affinity for such sort of tweaks, then today's featured Cydia tweak might just tickle your fancy.
A tweak called HomeDisplay has touched down in Cydia recently. Made by developer Michael Poole, this new jailbreak tweak essentially adds another status bar to your iPhone's home screen. The second status bar is displayed right below the default status bar and is capable of showing various information without being obtrusive.
By default, the second status bar will display the current date along with the current temperature, pulled straight from the native Weather app. But that's not all. The HomeDisplay package can interact with other native apps in order to bring additional information to the user. For example, if the stock Music app or another music application like Spotify is running, the second status bar will display the currently playing song.
As for configurable settings, HomeDisplay does not come with an extensive list of options which is quite disappointing for a paid Cydia tweak. The options found in the Settings app for the tweak is basically a killswitch which will require a respring when any changes are made.
HomeDisplay is available in Cydia for $2, somewhat a steep price tag considering what it can do and the options available. However, the tweak itself is well-done and still has a lot of room for improvement. Hopefully, the developer will realize the tweak's potential and extend its features with future updates. HomeDisplay is not compatible with iPad and requires iOS 6.0 or later.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
