Aside from Redsn0w, one of the most prominent jailbreak tools is iH8sn0w's Sn0wbreeze. Although Sn0wbreeze releases are somewhat behind as compared to other jailbreak tools, it is still relevant to the scene for a number of reasons. Good news for those who have updated to iOS 6.1.3 because now, you can download Sn0wbreeze v2.9.14 and use it to tethered jailbreak your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
That's right folks, iH8sn0w has just released a new version of Sn0wbreeze to add support to iOS 6.1.3. Although as mentioned, this is a TETHERED jailbreak so try not to get your hopes up. On top of that, the tethered support is only limited to A4 devices which include the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch 4th gen. Apart from the tether support, Snowbreeze 2.9.14 will now include APTicket validation. This will now make Sn0wbreeze verify APTickets after browsing for iOS5+ blobs in iFaith mode.
Here’s the change log for Snowbreeze 2.9.14:
- Added tethered support for A4 devices on iOS 6.1.3 (3GS old bootroms are untethered as usual).
- After Cydia’s mishap with aptickets from 6.0 –> 6.1.2 (causing soft-dfu loops), sn0wbreeze now includes an apticket validation. It will verify the apticket after browsing for iOS5+ blobs in iFaith mode.
Like its previous versions, Snowbreeze 2.9.14 is a Windows only tool. If Mac users want a similar tool, they will have to go with PwnageTool, although it hasn't been updated for iOS 6 yet. The main reason why many people still prefer Sn0wbreeze over other jailbreak tools is the fact that it lets you create a pre-jailbroken custom IPSW which you can use to restore your iDevice. This also enables one to upgrade their firmware and preserve their baseband for unlocking purposes. Sn0wbreeze also offers advanced options like pre-installing Cydia tweaks and customizing the root partition size.
