Jailbreak users who've been keeping themselves in the jailbreak news loop should know things are coming slow when it comes to the much-awaited iOS 6 untethered jailbreak. However, things are looking up. As we reported earlier this month, Planetbeing has been working on the iOS 6 untethered jailbreak and the said demise of jailbreaking is being exaggerated. Folks waiting for the iOS 6 jailbreak will be happy to know Planetbeing has made great progress and is working hand-in-hand with another prominent jailbreak persona.
On Friday, Planetbeing tweeted he had made progress while working on the iOS 6 jailbreak. As tweeted by Planetbeing:
Made some nice progress today with @pod2g. I think I'll try to reward myself with a nap. :)
As you can see, Planetbeing is confirmed to be working with Pod2g, the latter who released a DJ-mixing app in the iTunes App Store. However, it seems Pod2g is now back on-board working on the iOS 6 jailbreak, which everyone has anticipated since its release back in September. With Pod2g onboard, there's no doubt things will pick up. In fact, Pod2g also tweeted he found two vulnerabilities in a single day, which can only be taken as good news.
. @planetbeing oh yeah! 2 new vulnerabilities in a day, chance was with us. But we still miss that initial code execution for a public jb :/
However, it seems there's still the initial code execution that needs to be secured to pave the way for a public release.
The lack of an untethered iOS 6 jailbreak is what is preventing most jailbreak user from upgrading to the latest Apple firmware. And those who're using newer devices, like the iPhone 5 and iPad mini are pretty much stuck with no jailbreak at all. These tweets by Pod2g and Planetbeing suggest significant progress with the iOS 6 untethered jailbreak. Well, it may come sooner or later, all we can do is wait and give these jailbreak heroes our support.
