After Apple released iOS 6.1 beta 5 on Saturday, iH8Snow broke the news with a retweet from hacker @iNeal, who claimed a 128 GB iDevices would be available soon. His argument: iOS 6.1 beta 5 has a 128 GB system partition key in BuildManifest.
A day later, 9to5Mac recieved word from their sources, that reinforced iNeal's earlier statement. They are speculating Apple is indeed working on an additional iPad model, which would be a new SKU for the current fourth-generation iPad using a Retina Display.
From what they found, the new model wouldn't be a fifth-generation iPad -- which is projected to come in the fall -- but an additional iPad model with increased storage. According to their sources, the 128 GB iPad 4 would have a $799 price for the Wi-Fi only model, while the Cellular + Wi-Fi is projected to cost at least $929.
The P101 and P103 names are Apple's internal nomenclature for the Wi-Fi only and Cellular+Wi-Fi, fourth-generation iPad models. Until now, the iPad models came with 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB storage capacities, which are known as the "Good", "Better", "Best" models. As the above table obtained by 9to5Mac shows, Apple is preparing an "Ultimate" model, which seems to refer to the highest spec model, or the highest capacity table. "A" indicates black, while "B" is the white model.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
