Many owners of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch are dreaming of the day when the untethered iOS 6 jailbreak is finally available. However with iteration of the iOS, Apple is making it harder for the jailbreak community to come up with the most up-to-date solution. This is the main reason why it takes many months before a solid untethered jailbreak solution is made available for public consumption. Jailbreaking the iOS is not exactly something that just about anyone can do. That is why if someone unheard of says that he has cracked the code, one can't help but become a skeptic. Yesterday, someone that goes by the name Dream Jailbreak claimed that he has the untethered iOS 6 jailbreak.
Some guy named Dream Jailbreak has pulled a rather gutsy move announcing that he has finally cracked iOS 6 and he will be releasing it to the world on December 22nd. As expected, the announcement was met with much skepticism especially by prominent jailbreak personalities like MuscleNerd, iH8sn0w, and i0n1c just to name a few. With the objective to satisfy the believers and silence the skeptics, Dream Jailbreak announced that he will be uploading a video that will outline the process of the new untethered iOS 6 jailbreak. And so he did upload the video, and that is when everything started to make sense. Dream Jailbreak's untethered iOS 6 jailbreak is a fake, as expected.
The uploaded video is supposedly a two-part series (we wanted to link the video but it was now taken down). In the video, the mysterious hacker explained the method of the alleged jailbreak. The process involves visiting a website, utilizing a computer program to place the device into some sort of DFU mode, and then some installation process was performed from the computer.
After the video was posted which should look good to the untrained eye, various famed jailbreak developers were quick to point out the discrepancies in it. MuscleNerd pointed out that the verbose boot screens and progress bar was much too similar to the app he developed. iH8sn0w also inputted, “it jump starts from userland to Verbose iBoot without an initial apple logo.” As if those were not enough input already, a forum user from MacRumors named Jessica Lares has managed to dig up more dirt by pointing out that the EXIF data from the screenshot posted by Dream Jailbreak reads “Software: Adobe ImageReady.” This essentially means that a software utility was used to doctor the image.
Probably realizing that his little stunt is already drawing to a close with the jailbreak community to expose him, Dream Jailbreak announced that he will be releasing the untethered iOS 6 jailbreak immediately. That's right, he moved the release date of his masterpiece to today instead of December 22nd which was previously announced. Without delay, Dream Jailbreak posted the link to his site which led to this infamous YouTube video. That's right folks, we have been Rick Roll’d. In what seem like a public service announcement, he posted this reminder:
Be careful when it comes to jailbreak solutions that are advertised outside of the prominent and accepted dev teams.
Was there ever any doubt that this whole shebang was just an elaborate trolling attempt? I feel bad for naïve jailbreak users who went ahead and updated their devices in anticipation of this untethered iOS 6 jailbreak (if you have an A4 device and have your SHSH blobs saved, you can use our downgrade tutorial). This is why you should refrain from trusting anyone with no track record when it comes to jailbreak matters. You just can't go wrong in sticking with prominent jailbreak personas and teams, chances are, they will be the one who will and can come up with the elusive jailbreak solution. For now, we can only dream (pun intended) of the untethered iOS 6 jailbreak.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
