Apple announced on Monday that the iPhone 5 pre-orders have topped 2 million units during the first 24 hours. This is more than double the iPhone 4S' 1 million pre-order sales record.
As the number of pre-orders hit sky-high demand, it exceeds the initial supply Apple secured for the launch. However, the majority of the pre-orders will be shipped on the agreed September 21, for people who placed their orders over the weekend they may have seen the message that Apple can't honor their order until October.
“iPhone 5 pre-orders have shattered the previous record held by iPhone 4S and the customer response to iPhone 5 has been phenomenal,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “iPhone 5 is the best iPhone yet, the most beautiful product we’ve ever made, and we hope customers love it as much as we do.”
In addition, Apple will have the iPhone 5 models in stock at 356 Apple Store locations in just four days. The stores will have sales starting at 8:01 AM in the US, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, UK and Japan. Also, the device will be available at AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint and a couple of RadioShack, Best Buy, Walmart and Target stores.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
