It is now official: Apple will indeed hold a special event next Wednesday, where it will launch the iPhone 5, at the same place it revealed the new iPad earlier this year, the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco.
As you can see on the above image, the invite has two messages: the first one is, "It's almost here," with a big, centered 12, while the second one becomes obvious as you follow the shadow and you'll see a number 5.
The announcement confirms earlier rumors saying Apple would launch the next-generation iPhone on September 12, and it is a clear hint that the next-generation iPhone will be called iPhone 5. Also, it is in line with a recent report showcasing Apple's event plans for the next two months, which includes the debut of the much-rumored smaller version of the iPad, presumably called iPad mini.
