Thanks to its secret source, Apple Daily has exclusively obtained iPhone 5 casing parts. By comparing the new specs to the current iPhone they found that the upcoming iPhone 5 will be 18% thinner than its predecessor.
The new iPhone’s tech specs are 123.83 mm in height, 58.6 mm width and 7.6 mm depth, compared to the iPhone 4S which is 115.2 mm x 58.6 mm x 9.3 mm. The source confirms our earlier article that Apple has changed the iPhone 5 aspect ratio from its current 3:2 to 16:9.
Other changes noted by this source are a relocated headphone jack, the new nano-SIM tray that cuts down 40% of space occupied by the MicroSIM, and a much smaller dock connector with 8 or 9 pins compared to the current 30-pin standard dock.
Although, Apple is all set to manufacture the thinnest iPhone yet, it can’t claim the title of making the thinnest smartphone. That title is currently held by a Chinese smartphone manufacturers’s Oppo Finder handset, which is much thinner (6.6mm) than the upcoming iPhone 5.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
