It wasn't long when Google introduced their newest product which is seriously going to be a formidable competitor to the tablet market, the Nexus 7. Powered by Android, this slick, lightweight new tablet has been raking in some pretty good reviews. But probably one of the killer features of Nexus 7, considering that it can do almost anything that a tablet can, is definitely the $199 price tag. And it is spreading like wildfire. Will it somehow be a threat to Apple's iPad? That remains to be seen. But which is more durable between Google and Apple's tablet? It's the New iPad VS. Nexus 7.
Dropping gadgets on concrete and water is probably one of the worst nightmares for any gadget enthusiast. This is why SquareTrade, an independent warranty provider, has conducted a drop test to see which hardware will survive with their appearance and functionalities intact. There are three scenarios in which both the new iPad and Nexus 7 were tested: first is being dropped from chest height, then followed by tabletop height and lastly, both were dropped in a bathtub. Check out the heartbreaking video below:
As you can see from the video, it would be safe to say that the Nexus 7 has taken the cake on this one. In both the concrete drops, the Nexus 7 survived with a minor scuffs but with the screen display unscathed. The same can't be said with the iPad which suffered a cracked screen on both accounts. As for the bathtub drop test, both the iPad and Nexus 7 survived, both with touchscreen and buttons working. But Apple's tablet suffered loss of sound while the Nexus 7 was surprisingly functional, complete with sounds and all.
These tests are certainly not of the scientific kind as it still pretty much a case-to-case basis. At the end of the day, it is still highly recommended that you get a case for pretty much any of your electronic gadgets in order to increases survivability.
