When it comes to iPhone owners who wish to liberate their devices from its respective carriers, they should be well familiar with just how ruthless the unlocking scene is. Many 3GS/3G owners have found themselves forced to upgrade their baseband to 06.15.00 so that they can unlock their device. MuscleNerd has updated the jailbreak community a few days ago that there have been some significant progress on the upcoming 06.15.00 baseband downgrade and the much awaited release may not be that far off.
Yesterday, MuscleNerd tweeted that he is aiming to release the 06.15.00 baseband downgrade this coming Sunday, which he fondly referred to as Funday. This is actually in response to a tweet by a user where he assumed that MuscleNerd's team is busy working on iOS 6 and may be putting the baseband downgrade on hold.
I'm aiming for Funday/Sunday for releasing the downgrade from 06.15, but that's very much subject to possible delay.
Of course, MuscleNerd tweeted that because all the pieces that are needed to make the 06.15.00 downgrade are already there. So you may ask, why is this post significant for 3GS/3G unlockers? While updating to 06.15.00 is a viable solution, it comes with a price as it is possible that you will lose your GPS functionality. It should be safe to say that it is a fairly buggy baseband version. But of course, nothing is set on stone as it is possible that there would be an unforeseen delay for the release. But at least, users will finally be able to sink their teeth on this downgrade solution.
