We're quite sure that many of you are using their iPhone, iPad and iPod touch heavily and that the said devices have become an extension of your daily lives. And we are quite sure that this is the very same reason why many of you are quite apprehensive when it comes to lending your devices to other people. It is a fact that we have little ones, obnoxious friends and relatives that have a knack to mess up your device whenever it is borrowed. Before you know it, your app placement is messed up or worse, deleted. If that's the case, then you will need to check out this jailbreak tweak.
Leave My Apps Alone is a new jailbreak tweak from iOS author Bradley Friedman (S1ReX) and judging by its name, you should have a fair idea regarding its function. With this tweak installed, the apps on your Home screen are not going anywhere. While it is still possible to enter "wiggle mode", the delete button over the app will not appear and the icon will be locked in position. The apps will still be launched when tapped though so you might want to have a different tweak such as DisableLaunch if you want a function like that. This tweak works great with iOS 5+ devices.
But there is one particular oversight that prevents this tweak from being a must-have. The fact that there is no settings to configure definitely hurts the usability of Leave My Apps Alone. If you want to disable the tweak, you will need to uninstall it from Cydia. This is quite a cumbersome process and it can make things worse if you do not have access to an internet connection. A simple ON/OFF toggle or an SBSettings toggle would have sufficed. Hopefully, this is going to be addressed by the developer in future updates.
To use Leave My Apps Alone, you will have to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Here are some tutorials that you may use. For users who are currently in iOS 5.1.1 and want the latest untethered jailbreak, feel free to use the following guides: Absinthe | Redsn0w | Sn0wbreeze | Cinject.
