If you have been keeping tabs on the happenings within the jailbreak community as of late, then you will know that the next big thing that's coming is Pod2g's untethered jailbreak to be released. We are referring of course to the much awaited iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak which should be ready in the coming weeks. Last time, we provided to you a list of supported devices of the upcoming jailbreak. It is was notable that two of the unsupported devices are the iPhone 3GS and iPod 3G. If you are someone who owns such devices don't fret because Pod2g got some good news for you.
As stated previously, Pod2g likes to keep his jailbreak fans in the loop when it comes to the progress of his work. Just a few hours ago, Pod2g just reported via Twitter that they have found a workaround that will enable the upcoming jailbreak for the iPhone 3GS and iPod 3G. This is a great news for owner of such devices because they will be able to have the latest working untethered jailbreak. For the iPhone 3GS, the previously unsupported model is the one that has the new bootrom. For old bootroom iPhone 3GS models, it is vulnerable to the 2kpwn exploit and thus it will always be jaibreakable in an untethered manner.
So as it stands, only the Apple TV 3 is confirmed to be unsupported at the moment. There are still a variety of devices that are yet to be tested such as the iPad 2 GSM, iPad 3 Global, Apple TV 2 and many others. The jailbreak has been tested to work with the iPad 3 so it goes without saying that the jailbreak should work for newer devices. You can trust that Pod2g will continue to update us with regards to the progress of the testing phase.
