Jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 on iPhone 4S/4/3GS, iPad 3/2/1 & iPod Touch 4G/3G

The Chronic Dev Team just released a new version of Absinthe to perform an iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak. Whether you have an A4 or an A5 iDevice with iOS 5.1.1, you can jailbreak it now in an amazingly simple way. You can download Absinthe 2.0.1, the latest version of the Chronic Dev Team tool for an iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak (applicable to majority of your iDevices)!

Since last months, everyone was kept in the dark. After the release of iOS 5.1.1, it was a question of time until brilliant researchers like Pod2g and MuscleNerd found a solution to perform an iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak. And that time is now!

Patrick (Jaxov author) already mentioned the news of this upcoming jailbreak with a list of things you should know. And to make things complete now, we will walk you through the necessary steps to perform this iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak, using Absinthe 2.0.1.

Prepare Yourself and Your iDevice

Before performing any action like a jailbreak, you should backup all your data in case something goes wrong. Be sure you have a recent backup either through iCloud, either trough iTunes. If you are not sure how to do this: Just attach your iDevice to your desktop, launch iTunes and synchronize.

There are two ways to update. You can update your device like you always do (connect your iDevice to iTunes, and hit the button ‘update’ in iTunes), or you restore a custom ISPW to preserve your baseband. If you already updated your iDevice, you can make a jump to the section: Perform your iOS 5.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak

Step 1

Sync with iTunes

Connect your iDevice to your desktop and launch iTunes. Select your iDevice in the left column. Press Shift+button ‘Restore’ (Windows) or Option+button ‘Restore’ (Mac).

Step 2

Choose your ISPW

Now you will be able to select your own saved ISPW-files. Choose the right file and hit ‘Open’.

Step 3

Confirmation iTunes

iTunes will ask for a confirmation. Click on the button ‘Restore’.

Step 4

iTunes is Preparing

Sit back, have a mug of coffee and wait till the process is finished.

Step 5

iPhone Restored

Click on ‘OK’ and your iDevice will appear in the iTunes window in a few seconds.

Step 6

iPhone Unlocked

When your iDevice appears in the left column of iTunes, you have a clean install. Now you can restore the back-up you made earlier. Just click on ‘Continue’.

Step 7

iTunes Restore Backup

Select the backup you made earlier, and click on the button ‘Continue’. When finished, your data will be on your iDevice again, ready for use.

To jailbreak your iPhone, iPod or iPad, just continue with the next section.

If you are new to jailbreaking, this is an easy tool to start with. Even if you are a medium or advanced jailbreaker, you probably will appreciate the ease of use comparing to previous tools.

While writing this article and trying out Absinthe for ourself, we encountered a few iTunes errors. We found iTunes error 3194, iTunes error 11 and iTunes error 'iPhone Cannot Be Restored'. Check out the links to find a solution for these annoying messages.

These errors have nothing to do with Absinthe 2.0.1, because the guys from Chronic Dev Team did a wonderful job!

Download Absinthe now to perform your iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak for your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch!
