Recently, Apple has released new commercials for the iPhone 4S & Siri. With these commercials, Siri is no longer being pitched as a business tool for scheduling appointments, and no longer used by ‘normal’ people like you and me. Instead, Apple is now using high rank celebrities now like Zooey Deschanel and Samuel L. Jackson.
Anyone who used Siri at least for a few weeks, know that this personal assistant can be a little flaky. But nevertheless, Siri is the main target in marketing the iPhone 4S. Apple made a few new ads, each 30 seconds, to spread the word about Siri. But this time the charming personal assistant is no longer a business tool scheduling appointments and sending a SMS home “Honey, I am late this evening. Don’t wait for me…”
Instead of this, Siri is more pitched as a quirky pal you can have fun with. Zooey and Samuel did a great job in this!
Siri Exclusively on iPhone 4S
Before Apple acquired Siri inc. in April 2010, the personal assistant was available as an App in the iTunes App Store. The integration in iOS for the iPhone 4S was announced in October 2011. Because Apple removed the original app from the iTunes App Store at that same time, Siri is now only available for the iPhone 4S.
Siri on Other iDevices
Officially, Siri is only available for the iPhone 4S. But with a little efford, you can use Siri, or an equivalent, even on an iPhone 4 or even an iPhone 3G.
