Let's face it, one of the most pressing concerns of a smartphone user under a limited data plan is to exceed the monthly bandwidth allocation. This is of course because it will lead to being overcharged by your carrier, which is never considered to be enjoyable. Obviously, this isn't exactly a problem for those that have unlimited data plans. But seeing that major carriers such as Verizon and AT&T have stopped offering unlimited plans, chances are high that you are currently under a limited data plan. If you are worried about going over your monthly bandwidth allocation, here's a jailbreak tweak from Cydia that you would want to check out.
The name of today's featured Cydia tweak is called Data Usage Monitor from author Elias Limneos. What this jailbreak tweak does when installed is to enable iPhone users to track their data usage. We're quite aware that there are numerous jailbreak tweaks out there that does the same thing but what makes Data Usage Monitor quite different is that it monitors your usage in real time. It is certainly one of the better data usage tracker that's available in Cydia.
Data Usage Monitor Features:
Once installed, Data Usage Monitor will place a data usage counter on your iPhone's status bar and lockscreen. As the data is monitored in real time, the tweak will show you your live data usage whenever you are using any application that requires the internet such as Safari, Facebook, YouTube, Twitter and so on. Another great feature of this app is that it will notify if you have reached your bandwidth limit (which you can set of course). If you are using your device as a personal hotspot, you can also use the tweak to monitor your usage as well.
Data Usage Monitor is a great jailbreak tweak that really comes in handy for users with limited data plans. This jailbreak tweak is available in Cydia for $1.99 under BigBoss repo. It can be quite steep for some but we imagine its better than going over your bandwidth limit and paying exorbitant fees for the excess.
So you can install Data Usage Monitor, you must of course have a jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Good for you, we have the tutorials that you need.
