With the much awaited release of the Absinthe jailbreak tool for the iPhone 4S, we have started to see an influx of tweaks and apps that aim to improve or modify Siri, one way or another. Last time, we featured a neat jailbreak app called AssistantExtensions which is a framework that allow developers to create plugins for Siri and extend its functionalities. The app works quite well and we are glad to see that developers are actively creating more plugins for it. Here is a new plugin for AssistantExtensions that music lovers will surely love.
If you love looking at the lyrics of the song while it plays in your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, then you will find a lot to like about this new featured Siri plugin. The name of the plugin is SiriLoveLyrics, created by iOS developer Pigi Galdi. Basically what this tweak display the song lyrics as you command it through Siri. Although your music needs to be playing on the iPod app before you can activate the plugin. To activate the plugin through Siri, you will simply have to speak "show lyrics" or "show text." Upon doing so, Siri will then retrieve the song title, artist and the lyrics.
The plugin itself works great and from the looks of it, it looks like something that Apple itself would implement. It almost feels like a native app which is always a good thing. When invoking the plugin while the music plays, it will pause long enough so you can ask for the lyrics and once it is available, the song will start playing again even while Siri is open. This is a good example of how much attention to detail is being placed into the SiriLoveLyrics by the developer.
If there is one drawback of this plugin, it is the fact that it only works on the iPod app. But developer Pigi is currently working on SiriLoveLyrics so that it will work with other Music applications such as Spotify, Pandora and Grooveshark. If you love listening to music in your iDevice, then you will surely dig this tweak. SiriLoveLyrics is available in Cydia under ModMyi repo for $0.99.
