With regards to Apple products, one exciting announcement that is clearly anticipated by fans right now is for the upcoming next-generation iPad. If you have been closely following the news about the iPad 3, then you will know that the iPad is expected to be announced by Cupertino company in a special event at around early match. And now it seems that in light with the upcoming release of next iPad, retailers have starting to slash the price off of the iPad 2.
Regional big-box retailer in U.S., Meijier has announced that they will be discounting the in-store price of the 16GB iPad 2 with WiFi by $70. The sale was announced through the retailer's weekly ad for the week of February 12-18 and it was indicated that the sale will run as long as supplies last. In another listing found in the company's website, the iPad 2 is listed with a $429 price and that it will only last until February 25.
In addition to that, the iPad 2's Smart Cover is also on sale for $35 which is $5 lesser than its regular retail price. Meijer is also offering a free $15 iTunes gift card for every purchase of the 8GB iPod touch for $195. The $70 discount off the iPad 2 is currently one of the steepest discounts for the tablet device since its introduction back in March 2011.
Provided that the pegged launch date of the third-generation iPad is around the first week of March, Meijier's sale is the retailer's effort to clear out its iPad 2 inventory in order to make way for the upcoming new tablet. It is widely speculated that the iPad 3 (or whatever it is going to be called) will feature an "truly amazing" high-resolution Retina Display, faster A6 processor (possibly quad core) and an improved camera.
