One of the main complaints of iOS device users when it comes to music is the fact that you will need to sync it every time with iTunes. For some people, this process can be quite cumbersome especially if you are simply adding one or two music files. Well, apparently there is a way for you to download mp3 files from your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and add it into your iPod library without using iTunes. Here's a tutorial on How to Import MP3 Songs Directly into iPod App Without iTunes.
Before You Proceed:
- You will need a jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. To jailbreak your iPhone 4S or iPad 2, refer to our Absinthe untethered jailbreak guide: Windows, Mac. As for other devices (A4), read our iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak guide.
- Download and install iFile from Cydia.
- Download Safari Download Manager from Cydia
Steps to Import MP3 Songs Directly into iPod App Without iTunes:
- Download and install Safari Download Manager through Cydia.
- Download the MP3 file of your choice in Safari using the Safari Download Manager app.
- Once the download is done, open the MP3 file in iFile.
- Once in iFile, tap on the blue arrow on the right side of the MP3 file name.
- You should now be in the file attributes screen. Scroll down and you should see the Add to iPod Library button, tap it.
- Once tapped, iFile will proceed to create an M4A file in the directory and will add it into the iPod library automatically.
And that's it, you are done!!

My ifile on my ipad doesn’t have add to ipad library button
My iFile does not have an add to ipod library button.
Only the latest versions of iFile have this, so maybe you need to update. Hmmm, you’re not using a pirated copy of iFile, are you?
Is there any way to transfer the downloaded mp3 to the iPod library without jail breaking the iPhone? I’m using the “free mp3” app from AppStore but I haven’t been able to transfer it to the iPod without using a computer.
Nope
Note: on iPhone Mewseek still shows “Add to iPod” button but it still works. I had no problem adding the mp3 to the phone. iPhone still press the “Add to iPod” button.
Download to /media/downloads then open MewSeek add to iPod from there
Can confirm that this does indeed with Mewseek. Sure it’s a little more clunky but it does work. Now to find a way to do it for free. Stinking paid hacks!
Add to iPod Library isn’t there anymore =
@roza: It doesn’t have to be MP3 and I doubt “Free Music” has the Add to iPod Library function.
I got an app called free music .. Works perfectly .. Got it from installous ..
For the ppl who said this way doesnt work .. Make sure it is mp3 .. Js

iFile says it using Gremlin2 package to import to iTunes. The Gremlin2 package says it is not compatible with iOS 5.
Which version of iFile can do this…
Hi,
The latest version of iFile should work. Make sure it is a registered version.
I can’t find add to iPod library button. Please help
Hi,
Make sure that you have the latest version of iFile.
I already bought and registered the last version on cydia
not working with iOS5 :(
Does this work for the ipod touch 4g ?
Yes, it does. :)
Doesnt work in iOS 5 cause there is no
Safari Download Manager for ios5 yet. Also, used anotehr plugin to download mp3 and went to the file by iFile but no option to Addd to iPod.
Hi,
You can use any other download manager that works with iOS 5. As for iFile, it needs to be registered and is the latest version, since it comes with Gremlin library that allows you to add songs to the iPod.
Will this method work for an iPad ?
Thanx
Tonee
Hi,
Yes, it will work on the iPad.
dont have that add button
in ifile! do u have to download the song using safari downlaod manager?
i used mewseek.. but since the auto sync doesnt work in ios 5, i tried
this method but there no add to ipod in ifile.. any idea?
Hi,
You can use any download manager that works in iOS 5. Then use iFile to import the mp3 file, although iFile needs to be registered and the latest version since Gremlin library comes with it, which lets you add songs to the iPod library.
Hope that helps!!
I did all that… Still no add to ipod library button… Wgat am i missing….
Download Cydia Tweak UniversalMediaImporter http://moreinfo.thebigboss.org/moreinfo/depiction.php?file=universalmediaimporterDp and it should work.
