Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 To Be Revealed in This Year’s Upcoming E3 2012

Current generation gamers surely got their hands full with the big three going in on full throttle. I'm talking of course about the three major video game console manufacturers: Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony with their corresponding entry to the home console wars which are Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation 3 respectively. While there is no sign of slowing down among these three, a new report has surfaced that Microsoft and Sony are already ready to unveil their next home console iteration during this year's E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo).

PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720 Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 To Be Revealed in This Years Upcoming E3 2012
According to UK-based Market for Computer & Video Games (MCV), they have “third-part publishing sources” claiming that both Microsoft and Sony are all geared up to reveal their next-generation console which is the Xbox 720 and PlayStation 4 respectively.

From MCV:

Both the Xbox 360 successor AND a follow up to the PS3 will be shown at E3 2012.

The LA show tease will come as Wii U launch details are locked in – and should ensure no ground is lost between competing consoles.

Take note that this will be the first time in 17 years that the three major rival consoles will directly go head-to-head. Microsoft has already long hinted its next-gen plans for E3 2012 and sources claimed that this will indeed happen, but what is actually surprising is that Sony is already making its move. According to the head honchos at Sony, they know better than to be left behind again this time. In case you don't know, both Microsoft and Nintendo have launched their current generation consoles way ahead of Sony and this gave both Microsoft and Nintendo a substantial head start over the PlayStation firm.

If this is the case, then the upcoming E3 is going to be massive. With the launch of the Wii U and the unveiling of the next Xbox and Playstation, gamers everywhere do have a lot of great things to look forward to. The announcements might just be a quick preview or overview and we are not expecting any major details such as pricing or ETA for the release.
