For many weeks now, pod2g has got his hands full because of the fact that he was busy playing that "cat and mouse game" with Apple developers and engineers. As you may already by now, pod2g successfully brought the iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak a few days after Christmas last year, but it was only for A4 devices which means that there is no iOS 5 jailbreak for A5 devices yet. Earlier this month, pod2g collaborated with some of the best jailbreak hackers in the community in order to form the A5 jailbreak dream team. Based on the latest update by pod2g, it seems that we're closer more than ever.
The iOS 5.0.1 A5 jailbreak was proven to be quite a different kind of beast and various difficulties were encountered along the way. There were issues with sandboxing on the A5 but the team was able to successfully overcome it. A few days ago, legendary hacker PlanetBeing made a tweet stating that he was able to successfully run an unsigned A5 jailbreak code on his iPhone 4S. And now according to the latest update by pod2g on his official blog, it seems that they were able to finally jailbreak the iPhone 4S. In case you don't believe it, here's the exciting new video for your viewing pleasure:
As you can see from the video, it is indeed a working jailbreak for the iPhone 4S and of course, even better is the fact that it is an untethered jailbreak for the A5. At this point, we're sure that many iPhone 4S owners will be happy even just with a tethered jailbreak. But now it seems that pod2g and the gang isn't going to settle for anything less other than an untethered jailbreak, which is nothing short of great. And of course, since this is working on the iPhone 4S, it should work with the iPad 2 as well with no problems.
Pod2g advises that the jailbreak should be available with just a "few waits" now. We're guessing that the team is on the process of ironing out the kinks in order to ensure that the A5 jailbreak runs smoothly and bug-free as much as possible. So stay tuned folks, we are really, really close. [via pod2g]Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
