While there is no arguing the stability and security of the iOS because of its closed nature, that same closed environment also offers quite a limited option. One of the most common annoyances in the iOS is the lack of an effective interface to launch an app in a quick manner. And this becomes quickly a problem when you have tons of apps installed on your iPhone. And this is why tweaks like SBSettings have become highly popular among the jailbreak crowd. Now we have another jailbreak tweak that enable users to launch an app quickly.
The name of the tweak is called SuperSwitcher by well-known third party developer Akhil Tolani. Basically, what this tweak does is add a new pane just above the multitasking bar (which is brought up by double-pressing the Home button, in case you don't know). In this new pane, you can assign shortcuts to nine of your most favorite apps. These apps can be assigned through the iOS Settings, as seen on the screenshot below.
Swiping on the left will bring up the System Settings screen where you can access some of the most frequently used settings such as brightness, volume, Bluetooth, Airplane mode, Location Services and WiFi. In addition to that you will also have quick access to your Contact List, Mail, Messages and web browser. You are also given the option to respring, reboot, switch off or go into safe mode straight from the task switcher.
As you can see, SuperSwitcher is a nice, useful tweak which is packed with a variety of features and options. Our only gripe is that it can only bookmark nine apps which is sort of a bit limited. But still considering that it only cost $0.99, it's not that bad of a deal, not bad at all. Find it in Cydia under BigBoss repo although you will need at least an iOS 4.2 to make this tweak work.
Before you can use the SuperSwitcher jailbreak tweak, you need to have your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch jailbroken. For those who have installed the iOS 4.3.5 IPSW, you can use our Redsn0w tethered guide. But if you want an untethered jailbreak for iOS 4, go ahead and download the iOS 4.3.3 IPSW and restore to it. Then feel free to use one of the following tools: Redsn0w / Sn0wbreeze / PwnageTool / JailbreakMe. For the latest iOS 5.0.1 firmware however, refer to our iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak guide.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
