If you have been keeping yourself in the loop with regards to iOS firmware releases, then you should know that Apple has already released the third pre-release version of the iOS 5.1, dubbed the iOS 5.1 beta 3. Just a couple of hours after it was made available to developers and someone has found some evidence that Apple may be working on Siri dictation for the iPad.
iOS 5.1 beta 3 does not offer anything exciting in terms of changes or features but the folks of 9to5Mac has discovered some references pointing to the possibility that Siri Dictation may be headed towards the iPad. The discovery was actually made by Sonny Dickson who was tinkering with the iOS 5.1 beta 3 settings when he stumbled upon a new section in the keyboard menu which is called “About Privacy and Dictation.” When opened, the menu will show a new section detailing some information about keyboard dictation, as seen on the screenshot below.
The said dictation feature is not yet functional on the iPad 2 with iOS 5.1 beta 3 so there are some speculations that maybe it will be a new feature for iOS 5.1 once it hits prime time, or perhaps this could be an exclusive feature for the upcoming third-generation iPad. According to some users, this particular document can also be found on 4G iPod touches.
At this point, we could only speculate as to what this specific menu actually means. It could be just a new Siri Dictation document that has been carried over from the iPhone 4S code or it is possible that the Siri support for the iPad is only limited to dictation. Again, these are all just pure speculations and nothing more. [via 9to5Mac]Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
