Although the rest of the jailbreak community have been enjoying the A4 iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak since last year, iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users are still yet to experience the iOS 5.0.1 untethered goodness. But that's not saying that jailbreak superstar pod2g isn't on the case. Yesterday, he released a FAQ explaining the difficulties that comes with jailbreaking the A5. Pod2g figured that the A5 jailbreak is a beast that he can't take on by himself, at least not in a timely fashion, so he decided to enlist some help.
Pod2g has been making posts on his blog as a way to chronicle his jailbreak progress. Now, he made a new post today entitled "Sandbox difficulties" where he details that he has enlisted the help of some of the jailbreak community's prominent personalities: the legendary hacker @planetbeing, the iPhone Dev-Team frontman @MuscleNerd and the leader of the Chronic-Dev Team @p0sixninja.
@planetbeing, the legendary hacker behind iPhone Linux and lot of jailbreaks (see http://theiphonewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=User:Planetbeing) has joined the A5 research!
The famous @MuscleNerd (http://theiphonewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=User:MuscleNerd), the leader of the iPhone Dev Team, who did a lot of tests for Corona and whom integrated it and made it simple in redsn0w is willing to help also.
And last, but not least @p0sixninja (http://theiphonewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=User:Posixninja), the leader of the Chronic Dev Team, and my partner for years on iPhone security research has started to code and fuzz the Apple sandbox.
We now have a dream team to find a path for a public release of the A5 jailbreak.
Cross your fingers.
Now doesn't that look like kickass alliance or what? Now if this team doesn't pull off that A5 jailbreak in a timely manner, no one else will. So A5 owners can take comfort in the fact that the big guns are out and they have their eyes on that elusive iPhone 4S and iPad 2 iOS 5.0.1 jailbreak. Keep your fingers crossed.
