If you consider yourself to be a jailbreak enthusiast, there is a good chances that you wasted no time and installed pod2g's iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak the day that it came out. The jailbreak undoubtedly works but it is far from being perfect. One of the most notable problems that came with the untethered exploit is that it crashes iBooks a few seconds after it is launched.
This particular problem with the crashing of iBooks isn't exactly news. It has been said that this has been an effort by the Cupertino company to combat jailbreaks. A package has been made available in Cydia called iBooksFix2 but although it works for some people (including yours truly), not everyone has been lucky to fix the problem.
Developer Xvolks has also created a fix called xBooks which is specifically designed for the iOS 5.0.1 untethered exploit. However, this particular fix for iBooks did not make it to Cydia because it has been rejected by repositories. It was deemed to be a not so ideal fix because instead of fixing the problem outright, it actually moves the actual location of iBooks as a way to offset a problem.
But good news because as of now, Xvolks has been working with pod2g in order to come up with a more permanent solution to the iBooks problem. The fix will come as an update to the Corona package and will include Comex's sandbox patches. Hopefully, the update will fix not only iBooks but other software as well that are having sandbox issues.
@xvolks worked to include @comex sandbox patches into the Corona GIT.
Expect a Corona update soon in Cydia that'll fix iBooks and other softwares having sandbox issues.
I'll update the blog when this is released.
So those of you who are still having problems with iBooks, we suggest that you keep your eyes peeled because a new version of Corona should be made available soon. And of course, the A5 Jailbreak Dream Team is working as well with the A5 untethered jailbreak, so keep an eye for that as well. [via pod2g]Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
