Since the launching of the iPhone 4S during the "Let's Talk iPhone" event in October last year, Apple hasn't been involved in any sort of event. Now according to a new report, Apple is planning something important and it will be taking place at the end of January.
The report came straight from AllThingsD, citing sources that are allegedly familiar with the situation, Apple is said to be planning an event, although it will be nothing large-scale. The said event will be taking place at the end of the month in New York and it will be focusing on media-related announcement. Although there was a disclaimer that Apple is known to change its mind when it comes to public events, so this is hardly a finalized deal.
Those that are hoping that this will be the event where the iPad 3 announcement will take place is going to be disappointed because it won’t be related to the device at all. Nor it is going to be the event for the new Apple TV or the rumored iTV. In fact the source has said that this won't be about any exciting product announcement at all.
Rumor has it that Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services, is somehow involved in the said upcoming event which gives credence to the speculation that the announcement will be involving a new advertising or publishing function. The previous event that Cue was able to attend in New York was during the debut of News Corp's “The Daily” iPad newspaper.
When Apple announces a product, it will usually take place on the Cupertino campus or the WWDC, so it is safe to write this one off as a product launching announcement. We'll just have to wait and see what Tim Cook has up his sleeve. [via AllThingsD]Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
