Apple has a lot of things on their plate lately and one of the things that got them quite preoccupied is the fact that they need to deal with iOS 5's battery drain issues. Which is why the Cupertino company released iOS 5.1 beta which hopefully will fix the lingering battery problems that is dreaded by many iOS 5 users. In light with the release of iOS 5.1 beta, Notcom's TinyUmbrella has been updated to support the latest firmware release.
In case you don't know, TinyUmbrella is a useful tool that enable users save their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch's SHSH blobs which certainly comes in handy if the user opt to downgrade to an earlier iOS version which Apple has stopped signing. Users are free to restore to an earlier firmware version as long as Apple keeps on signing that particular version. But if Apple stops signing it altogether, under normal circumstances, you won't be able to downgrade to that version. Which is why the tool TinyUmbrella exists.
As stated, TinyUmbrella now supports iOS 5.1 beta which is now only exclusive for users who have a registered developer's account. As of now, jailbreakers are advised not to upgrade to firmware versions later than iOS 5.0 because there is no present method available for downgrading. But in case you have upgraded already, it is always considered to be a good practice to save your iOS device's SHSH blobs. So if you are currently running iOS 5.1 beta, download this version of TinyUmbrella and save your SHSH blobs now (download links are provided below). Better be safe than sorry as they say.
No ETA yet on an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 but we'll make sure to let you know once we have more information.
