Apple have certainly come a long way from its humble beginnings. From a company who almost went down many years ago to currently one of the largest tech company in the world with its highly successful electronic products such as the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and the MacBook. If you consider yourself to be a long time fan, then you'll definitely find a lot of things to love with today's featured gadget.
We are referring to the iStation, a gadget that enables you to travel back in time and go retro. This neat piece of nostalgic gadget lets you turn your iPad into Apple's earliest computer system, the Apple I and Apple II desktop computer. Basically, it is a stand where you simply place your iPad on top of a case that resembles the Apple I or II body, and that's pretty much it. Your iPad will act as a display and you can adjust its viewing angles. The built-in stand fortunately supports both the first-gen iPad and the iPad 2.
It is then paired with a lightweight wireless keyboard via Bluetooth. The keyboard can be quite small so if you have massive hands, you might have some difficult time using iStation. The keyboard comes with the standard feature buttons and as well as special Apple keys. The top row keys can be used to adjust various settings like the brightness, volume, control playback and starting a slideshow.
The iStation also packs a built-in stereo speakers with an included subwoofer. Although iStation has its own Bluetooth connection for audio, it does also come with a separate auxiliary stereo audio input via its 3.5mm audio jack. You can also choose to insert a USB flash drive or a microSD card loaded with mp3s and play it using iStation. And on the stand itself is volume control knob which works great without crackling noises whatsoever. Here's a video of iStation in action:
Keep in mind that though that the iStation is not exactly a portable unit as it lacks any sort of battery and needs to be plugged into a power source during usage. iStation is available at the M.I.C. Store for $89.95 but the units itself are limited. So if you want to satisfy your nostalgia fix, we suggest that you go grab iStation now.
