If you are a regular reader of Jaxov, then you'll know that we love bringing many different jailbreak tweaks and apps into your attention. Some of the tweaks we feature here can be highly essential and practical while some of them are practically useless but does something unique or cool to your iDevice. Well today, we have a useful jailbreak tweak for you.
The jailbreak tweak on our menu today is called CallTell from developer Tyler Calderone. What this tweak does is basically read out the name of the person who's currently calling you. You can probably think of a dozen scenarios when you will find this tweak to be useful. This pretty much eliminates the need to look at your iPhone each time someone calls you since you can easily tell if the call is important or not.
Aside from that, CallTell can also read your text messages for you, so it can be really useful while you are driving and can't be bothered to look at your phone to read a text message. This function already exists in the iOS Accessibility options but this tweak makes it more simple and customizable. CallTell does have a number of configuration options so you can customize the functionalities of the app to cater to your own liking. The tweak doesn't create a homescreen icon, so you will have to access its configuration by navigating to the Settings.app.
We realize that this jailbreak tweak is not really new but we think it is worth bringing into your attention since it has been recently updated to work with iOS 5. We're quite sure that there are a couple of you out who doesn't have this tweak yet, so here it is. It is definitely a cool tweak and is one of the better ones available in Cydia. CallTell is available in Cydia through the BigBoss repo for $1.99.
As per usual before you can download and install CallTell, you will of course need a jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. For users who have installed the iOS 4.3.5 IPSW, you can use our Redsn0w tethered guide. But if it is an untethered jailbreak is what you prefer, go ahead and download the iOS 4.3.3 IPSW and restore. Then use one of the following tools: Redsn0w / Sn0wbreeze / PwnageTool / JailbreakMe. If you are currently running the iOS 5.0 build, then you may use our iOS 5.0 Redsn0w jailbreak guide. For the latest iOS 5.0.1 firmware however, refer to our iOS 5.0.1 Redsn0w jailbreak guide.
