The iPhone 4S has already been out for more than a month already and its was no doubt going to be crazy popular. One noteworthy improvement of the 4S over the iPhone 4 is definitely the camera. Boasting an 8 megapixel sensor over the iPhone 4's 5 megapixel, the iPhone 4S's camera is on its way to become the most popular camera in a smartphone. Well according to popular photo sharing and management community Flickr, the iPhone 4S's camera is currently the second most popular smartphone camera used on their website.
According to the latest camera charts by Flickr, the iPhone 4S is now the second most used smartphone camera with regards to uploading photos on their website. Second only to the undisputed top cameraphone for many months now, the iPhone 4. In fact, you will see that the last four generation of the iPhone product line is currently taking up the top five slots which are the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 3GS and the iPhone 3G. Thrown in into the mix is Android's only representative which is the HTC EVO 4G.
It is worth noting that the iPhone 4, despite being released almost a year and a half ago, is not only the most popular smartphone camera in Flickr but is also the most popular camera overall used by the community. Now with the way things are going, it should be a matter of time before the iPhone 4S completely overtakes the iPhone 4 for the top spot, although it still has a long way to go. But to be able to grab the second spot in just more than a month since its release is still very impressive proving that Apple's latest and greatest smartphone is no slouch in the camera department.
Smartphone cameras are definitely getting more advanced with each model released and they are now starting rival other point and shoot cameras in the market. While it may never the approach the quality of high-end DSLRs (as of now), what makes smartphone cameras so popular is the fact that people conveniently carry them around wherever they go. So whenever there's a snap-worthy moment, people could just whip them out and snap away. Another factor that could attribute to the popularity of smartphone cameras is of course the price. Smartphones are a lot cheaper than some dedicated professional grade DSLRs and considering that the former double as a phone-slash-web-browser-media-player and so on, it's not hard to understand why smartphone cameras are highly popular now.
