Regular readers of our blog have most likely opened their devices to the wonderful world of jailbreaking and all the perks that comes with it. But of course, a jailbreak won't be possible without using the appropriate jailbreak tools. For the most part, there is no shortage of options when it comes jailbreak tools but if for some reason you find yourself getting tired of the current offerings and want to try something new, then you might want to check out this new tool by the Pwn Dev Team for the iOS 5.
The new jailbreak tool in town is called Ac1dSn0w by Pwn Dev Team headed by @iL3GEND and @imrel0ad. Ac1dSn0w was originally going to be called Ac1dra1n but the team decided to change it at the last minute prior to the release. Before everyone becomes too excited, all this jailbreak tool do is a TETHERED jailbreak for the iOS 5. This means that once your iOS device gets shutdown or reboots itself, you will need to plug it back into a PC or Mac and boot it into tethered mode using Ac1dsn0w.
As you may have noticed, this jailbreak tool doesn't exactly bring something new to the table which is not available with other tools such as Redsn0w and Sn0wbreeze. When it comes to features, it pales in comparison to Redsn0w. But again, if you are somehow tired of Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze or for some reasons both tools don't work for you, then jailbreaking your iDevice using Ac1dSn0w should be worth a shot.
Ac1dsn0w can jailbreak the following devices running iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1:
Keep in mind that Ac1dSn0w is still on its first beta, so there are bound to be couple of bugs here and there. So try it out at your own risk. In most cases, it is still better to use Redsn0w in jailbreaking iOS 5 and iOS 5.0.1. But the developers said that they will be adding new features into Ac1dsn0w and a promising one is the ability to jailbreak a device remotely. Two of the upcoming features of Ac1dsn0w are Custom Firmware Creation and iRecovery Remote.
Ac1dSn0w is currently available in Mac but a Windows version is currently under works now. We won't be providing the links to the file due to legal complications. But you should be able to find it through Google search. [via ModMyi]Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
