Battery Drain Problem Persists in iOS 5.0.1, Apple Still Investigating the Issue

There is no doubt that Apple's most advanced mobile operating system, the iOS 5, is the best version of the iOS platform to date. It has a plethora of new features and changes that were made based on feedbacks from iOS users. But unfortunately, amidst all the cool new features and changes, iOS 5 is not without its problems. Users who have upgraded to the latest numbered iOS are reportedly experiencing rapid battery drain. A fix was introduced but it seems that the problem persisted. Apple knows that the problem exists and cited that the issue was software based prompting them to release iOS 5.0.1. So did the latest firmware update fix the battery issues?

iOS 5 Battery Problem
As it turned out, there are still a handful of customers who claims that they are still experiencing rapid battery drain despite having updated their devices to iOS 5.0.1. According to a statement by Apple to AllThingsD, the recent firmware update addressed a good deal of battery issues from customers running iOS 5 but apparently, there are still a few that continues to experience the problem. Apple said that they will continue to investigate the issue.

The recent iOS software update addressed many of the battery issues that some customers experienced on their iOS 5 devices. We continue to investigate a few remaining issues.

So there you have it, it is unfortunate that the latest firmware update wasn't able to completely eliminate the issue. But you have to commend Apple for acknowledging the problem and taking immediate actions regarding this issue. From the looks of things, this is no minor problem anymore. If you are going to Apple's Support Forum, you'll see that there are still users experiencing rapid battery drain even with iOS 5.0.1 installed. Although there are those who have experienced an improvement as well.

While iOS 5 does indeed bring a chock-full of new features to the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, rapid battery drain seems to be trade-off. When Location Services, Find My Friends, iCloud and so on are running in the background, it is no wonder that the battery drains in such a rapid manner. If you are someone who's experiencing battery life issues with iOS 5, then we recommend you take some measures in order to some curb the problem. This includes decreasing the screen's brightness, disabling Location Services and Find My Friends and disabling some Push Notifications that you do not really need.

With that said, it is frustrating that you have to resort to compromising some features in your device just to offset the problem.
