One of the most notable new features that can be found in Apple's most advanced operating system the iOS 5 is of course the new notification system called Notification Center. As far as notifications go, it is the pull down interface that became the new home for all of the notifications for the iOS 5. It is highly intuitive and non-intrusive which is definitely an improvement over the old notifications. It also seems to have attracted the attention of many jailbreak developers out there as we see various tweaks and widgets for it.
I'm sure most of you will agree that while Notification Center does improve the user experience in iOS 5, its potential for more functionalities in the form of tweaks and widgets certainly proves to be more exciting. Well there's a new tweak in town called WeeKillBackground which certainly fits the bill of adding more functionality to the iOS 5.
As its name implies, WeeKillBackground simultaneously terminates all running processes and apps that are running in the background which consequently frees up your device's memory. This is especially useful if you are an app hoarder or someone who launches multiple apps on a daily basis. By the end of the day, it is highly likely that your device is running way too many processes in the background which continues to consume your memory. This can significantly slow down your device and not to mention that it can consume battery life faster as well. If anyone have been using SBSettings, this works exactly like the SBSettings toggle called Remove Background.
Once installed, just access the Notification Center and you should see a "Tap to kill all Apps" function. Just tap it to free those much needed memory. The tweak doesn't have a Springboard icon for its settings but instead you will have to configure it through the Settings.app.
Since this is another tweak from Cydia, you need to have a jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch before you can use WeeKillBackground.
