JailbreakMe.Com is Dead, Finds New Home at Jailbreaks.Me

There is no denying that one of the best things that happened to the jailbreak community this year is the fact that famed jailbreak developer Comex finally released his much awaited untethered exploit, JailbreakMe 3.0. If you have been able to use it, then you will know that it is one of the easiest, if not the easiest way to untether jailbreak an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. It is also of course, has one of the unique distinctions to be the only tool to ever successfully jailbreak the iPad 2, which was proven to be a tough nut to crack. And now we regret to inform you that the website used by the exploit, is now dead.

JailbreakMe 3.0 is Dead
If you have been following the news regarding the jailbreak scene, then it is no secret that last August, the author of JailbreakMe 3.0, Comex was hired by Apple as an intern. And now it seems that Apple has now officially hired Comex which means he will be abandoning his projects, including JailbreakMe 3.0 of course. Here's the thing, although Comex created the exploit himself, he was never the owner of the domain where the exploit was hosted. Instead it was lent down to him by a Twitter user named ConceitedApps. Well now that Comex is gone, ConceitedApps thought he might as well cash in on the domain so he proceeded to sell it on Godaddy. And now the domain has been purchased this means that is dead. On a quick note, if you visit the site now you will see an image of Steve Jobs with the caption "Thank You, Steve Jobs".

But don't fret or be stressed out however. Because iPhone Dev Team's MuscleNerd that they will be picking up the slack and promises to host every exploits that housed into a new domain If you're going to check for now, it will redirect you into the Comex's Twitter profile which indicates he was somehow able to secure the domain.

MuscleNerd warns all jailbreakers out there not to use the old website for their jailbreaking needs. The iPhone hacker advised that it is still unknown who's the current owner of the domain and it is a perfect home for a malware considering just how popular this tool is. Again it is worth repeating that jailbreakers should not use because it is considered to be unsafe. Watch out for because it will be the new home of Comex's old exploits.

This is definitely not a good news for jailbreak fans who are relying on Comex's exploits. Sure the iOS 5 will come in just a few days and Comex's jailbreak will be obsolete, but there is no telling how soon will we be getting an untethered jailbreak. Previous reports have indicated that the Chronic Dev Team is actively working on an untethered jailbreak for the iOS 5 and one can only hope that we see some favorable results as soon as iOS 5 becomes officially available.
