Apple's "Let's Talk iPhone" event will be taking place two to three days from now (depending on your time zone) where the Cupertino company is bound to open many cans of surprises especially with regards to the long rumored iPhone 5. But even if the iPhone event is just a few days ago from now, that still doesn't stop the iPhone 5 rumors from coming in. Now if this recently published report turns out to be true, the real surprise that Apple has in store for us is that we will only be having the iPhone 4S instead of the long awaited iPhone 5.
As we have reported, Apple just released the ninth pre-release version of iTunes 10.5 beta. And the folks over at 9to5Mac was able to find something interesting inside the said beta software that would give us a hint on what might Apple announce on Tuesday's iPhone Event. If anyone can recall, an analyst predicted that only one iPhone will be introduced this year and that is the iPhone 4S, not the highly anticipated iPhone 5.
Found deep within the iTunes 10.5 beta 9, are mentions of the iPhone 4S and another device which points to the CDMA variant of the iPhone 4. According to a speculation by 9to5Mac, unless the CDMA iPhone 4 that is referred to in the iTunes 10.5 beta is a placeholder for the new iPhone, it is entirely possible that the iPhone 4S will be similar to its design. And this leads to yet another theory that the new iPhone won't have a radical, new design and will feature modest upgrades. And because of the lack of variations between two iPhone 4S references, it could also be possible that the new iPhone will be a CMDA and GSM compatible handset.
Are those who have been eagerly anticipating the new iPhone in for a dose of major disappointment? It is no doubt that what makes the iPhone 5 rumors so popular and widespread is the fact that Apple fans are craving for an exciting new hardware. An iPhone with basically the same old design with minor spec updates hardly qualifies as being "exciting". It will no doubt left fans hugely disappointed. And this is something that Apple can't afford considering its intense competition with Android devices as of late. And if Tim Cook will be presenting the new iPhone as such, then it would definitely be seen as a disappointing debut for the new Apple CEO.
It has been 16 months since the release of the iPhone 4 and with such a long wait for fans, Apple has certainly got their work cut out for them in order to meet those high expectations. But then again, Apple is known to hide a secret rather excellently until the last minute and have a knack for bringing in some major surprises, so we can't rule out that two iPhones will be unveiled this coming Tuesday, the iPhone 5 and the iPhone 4S. We will surely know this coming Tuesday, so be sure to stay tune with us. [via 9to5Mac]Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
