Well it is finally the 14th folks. And you know what it means? Well of course you do. If you are an avid reader of our blog, then chances are you have been waiting to get your eager hands on Apple's shiny new iPhone, the iPhone 4S. As you probably already know, the fruit company announced and highlighted the features of the iPhone 4S on October 4th during the "Let's Talk iPhone" event. And now 10 days later, one can finally walk up to an Apple Store in seven different major markets and grab a unit.
When the iPhone 4S was announced, it was met with mixed reaction but most of the negative comments are attributed to the fact that the newly announced iPhone is not the much awaited redesigned iPhone 5 but instead it is a device that's an upgrade (although considerably) of the iPhone 4. And many people have been citing that the lack of screen size upgrade was a major deal-breaker for them. But that's only based on users who are commenting through various news sources and blogs. But in general it seems that most of the general public are still getting an iPhone 4S.
According to various sources, this is the most successful iPhone launch of Apple yet but instead of only two carriers, this time it is with three. In fact, carrier AT&T said that they have received an overwhelming number of pre-orders in the first 12 hours since it was made available, to be specific around 200,000 units. And by the end of the day, all three carriers received more than 1 million pre-order requests. And as of now, the iPhone 4S is now sold out on all three major US wireless carriers. Definitely an impressive, record-breaking feat from Apple.
Much like the past iPhones, the iPhone 4S is available in three models: the 16GB for $199, 32GB for $299 and 64GB for $399, and that of course comes with a two-year contract from your choice of carriers: AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless. There have been reports that Apple will be offering factory unlocked iPhone 4S at around November but as usual, expect that you will pay much more than the prices listed above since they are not carrier subsidized units.
There is no doubt that the iPhone 4S will become a hit. Some will perhaps get one because they own a device older than the iPhone 4, and there those who will run to the nearest Apple Store, well simply because of the fact that it is a new iPhone despite the fact whether or not it is a considerable upgrade or not. The Apple branding is so strong that the company will have no problem commanding sales like that.
