When it comes to the world of gaming, there are games that started a revolution and changed the face of gaming forever. One such game would certainly be Grand Theft Auto III by Rockstar Games. About two months ago, we have reported that Grand Theft Auto III has made its way into the Mac after a decade. But now it seems that Rockstar is once again making their classic opus available to more platforms as they port Grand Theft Auto III over to smartphones and tablets as a way to honor the game's 10th anniversary.
Yes, it seems that smartphones and tablets will be getting yet another full console quality game and a revered classic nonetheless. Users who are owns an iOS and Android devices will now be able to experience causing chaos, dealing with shady types and doing missions in Liberty City, the location of Grand Theft Auto III. But before everyone gets excited, not all iOS and Android devices will be supported. Although it was made ages ago, Grand Theft Auto III is a full-sized console game and understandably, it needs quite a beefy processing power.
With that said, on the iOS side, Grand Theft Auto III will be ported over to the latest iPhone, the iPhone 4S and the iPad 2. And for the Android users, they have quite a selection: Samsung Galaxy S II, Droid X2, LG Optimus 2X, HTC Evo 2, Motorola Atrix, Acer Iconia Tab (100, 500, 501), Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Motorola Xoom and Asus Eee Pad Transformer. As you can see, the range of devices are pretty limited but Rockstar said that they will adding more devices with compatible hardware in the future. No prices have been announced for the game yet.
In addition to that, Rockstar will also be releasing a limited edition action figure which depicts the game's protagonist Claude. The figure is fully poseable with interchangeable clothes and hands and a handful selection of weapons. Hardcore fans of Grand Theft Auto III will certainly not pass on this one and it will cost them a nifty $149.99.
Grand Theft Auto III by Rockstar Games is considered to be one of the most influential video games of all time. It has the distinction of being the first game to feature a truly open world, sandbox style environment which for the first time ever, gave gamers a whole new freedom like being able to go anywhere and do anything they want.
