It is finally here! After many months of high anticipation, Apple has finally released iOS 5, the world's most advanced mobile operating system. So for those of you who are craving for a new iOS experience on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, then waste no time and download this major update from the folks of Cupertino.

First announced during Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference last June, iOS fans got an exciting preview of iOS 5 as the fruit company highlights some of the main features of the operating system. And just after WWDC, Apple released the first ever beta of iOS 5. Although it was exclusive only to those who has enrolled an account over at Apple's iOS Dev Center, it was not long before it made its way into various file sharing sites. So in a way, developers and users who are resourceful enough was able to get a sneak preview into iOS 5. And since then, Apple have been periodically rolling out new beta updates for the iOS 5 up to the seventh version, and then eventually it finally reached Gold Master status last week. And of course, now it is finally here.

One would ask, what can I expect from iOS 5? Is it really worth all the trouble upgrading? Well for starters, how does 200+ new features sound? One of the most notable new features for iOS 5 is definitely the new notifications system called Notification Center. Let's face it, the old notifications system are rather distracting and could be a real annoyance if you are working on an application or playing a game. But with Notification Center, you can say goodbye to such annoyances because your notifications will be displayed atop the screen which can be pulled down if you want to view all your current notifications.

Another noteworthy feature that we're sure many people would love is iMessage. Users who are running iOS 5 will be able to send and receive instant messages and they won't be deducted from your text messaging plan. But of course you still need to have an internet connection of some sort. Basically, iMessage lets you communicate with another iDevice for free, provided of course that their device runs iOS 5.
In addition to that, Twitter fans have a big reason to celebrate as Apple has now baked Twitter right into the iOS 5 which should make tweeting a more convenient and seamless experience. Other features include AirPlay Mirroring, News Stand, enhancements to Mobile Safari, updated Camera App, PC Free updating and more. And that's not even half of it, clearly that should convince you to upgrade to iOS 5 as soon as possible. Even if you are not getting the new iPhone 4S, there are still a lot of new stuff for you to play with.
