Apple iPhone 4S vs. Samsung Galaxy S II: Head-to-Head Drop Test [VIDEO]

It is safe to say that one of the worst nightmares of smartphone owners is dropping their expensive handset on solid concrete. On the best case scenario, your handset will suffer negligible scratches but on the worst case, the drop can completely crack your device's screen. As you already know, the iPhone 4S has now been released and there are probably a couple of you who are wondering just how tough it is. Well, here's a drop test that you might want to check out.

Galaxy S2 VS. iPhone 4S Drop Test
The design of the iPhone 4 was previously criticized because of its enclosure that's made of chemically strengthened glass. This causes the device to more likely fall on the "right" side in the event that it does slip down your grasp and hit the pavement. And as you all know, the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 4 pretty much have the same enclosure making both their droppability questionable when compared to other smartphones that sports an enclosure made of the metal, plastic and glass.

Now the guys over at SquareTrade decided to test the iPhone 4S's toughness and pitted it against on one of the most advanced smartphones in the market today, as well as the 4S's leading competitor, the Samsung Galaxy S II. And by testing, we mean that they will be dropping both devices in varying heights and see which device survives with the least damage. Check out the video below:

As you can see from the video, Apple's current and most advanced iPhone, did not fare too well overall. When it was dropped on its back, you can clearly see the cracks caused by the drop. However, when it was dropped sideways, the damage on the iPhone 4S was very minimal as it has landed on its stainless steel band. But when it was dropped face down, it suffered the most damage which resulted to its screen having cracks all over. Samsung's handset was subjected to similar abuse but it was barely damaged and it actually fared rather well. This can only be attributed to the Galaxy S II's weight which is pretty light.

SquareTrade is an independent business that provides warranty for nearly everything, except of course when the damage done was intentional just like what happened in the clip. If you are investing in such an expensive handset like the iPhone 4S, then it's a no-brainer that you should invest on a good quality iPhone case as well, as it can protect it from the unfortunate event that you accidentally drop it.
