If you are a regular reader of our blog, then chances are you have already opened your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to the goodies that jailbreaking can offer. The jailbreak community is no doubt getting stronger as it continues to provide fans with awesome tweaks and apps. And now as we approach the end of August, we will be rounding up the best jailbreak tweaks for the month. So in case you haven't been keeping tabs with regards to the jailbreak scene, this is your chance to get updated.
Released around the beginning of August, WiFiSMS enable users to connect their desktop computers to the iPhone's SMS database through its WiFi address. Basically it's like having a replica of the iPhone's SMS messaging system right at your computer's web browser. This way you can receive and send text messages while working on your desktop or laptop. WiFi SMS supports SBSettings. It is recommended that you use the Insomnia SBSettings toggle so your iPhone's WiFi connection keeps on running even if your iPhone goes to sleep. Check out this demo from the folks of iDownloadBlog:

Safari Upload Enabler
Safari for the iOS is a good enough web browser providing the most basic web-surfing functionalities except for one thing, it doesn't allow contents to be uploaded into a website. Well fortunately, a jailbreak tweak takes care of that. Introducing Safari Upload Enabler, a jailbreak tweak that will finally enable you to upload content such as photos, videos, music and so on from within the iOS. Take note that this tweak will only work with the desktop version of the website (not the mobile version). Must have at least iOS 4.1 installed.
Safari Upload Enabler is available in Cydia under BigBoss repo for $1.99.
Speed For Maps
The iOS has a built-in Google Maps client that not only works rather well but it looks great with an intuitive interface. Now if you want a simple tweak that adds a great functionality to your iPhone map app, then you should definitely check out Speed For Maps. What this app does is basically add a speedometer to the native iOS map app. And as expected, the speedometer works by accurately displaying your speed while moving using the iPhone's built-in GPS. Since this tweak requires a GPS to work, you can only use this on the iPhone.

This is a jailbreak tweak that we have covered quite recently. ToDoNotes is a tweak that you can use in order to make Spotlight Search much more useful. I'm sure that most people do not use this feature and instead treat it as an annoyance. With ToDoNotes, you can add a quick note, list, quote, address / phone number and so on to Spotlight search which is beneficial considering how quickly you can access it from the Springboard. Another simple but useful tweak that costs you absolutely nothing.

This jailbreak tweak basically adds system toggles to your lockscreen which of course you can access without having to unlock your screen. Once installed, this utility embeds five buttons in the lockscreen which allows the user to unlock, shut down, respring, reboot or put the device into Safe Mode. PowerLock looks great and it is theme-able in case you don't fancy the default setting. However, this tweak only supports low-level settings which severely limits its usefulness especially when compared to SBSettings which also works from the lockscreen.
Powerlock is available in Cydia under BigBoss repo for $1.49.
This is actually a highly anticipated tweak that was made available in Cydia just recently. This neat utility is pretty much like another popular jailbreak app called BiteSMS but the only difference is that it actually integrates with the native iOS Messages app. So this is tweak basically puts the native Messages app on steroids. SMS Plus has an impressive list of features which includes quick compose, quick reply, pull to sort, delete all text, mark all text as read, text to speech and other goodies that will most certainly enhance your experience with the stock Messages app. Check out this cool video demo of the tweak:

Now for a tweak that's more on the cool factor rather than being practical or useful, here's GravityLockScreen. As its name implies, this tweak adds a touch of physics and gravity to the lockscreen. Once installed, you can swipe your lockscreen upwards and it will bounce around as if it is being affected by physics and gravity. You may want to play around with the settings first before you can achieve the desired results but when you do it's pretty entertaining and is perfect for showing off to your friends.
GravityLockScreen is available in Cydia under BigBoss repo for $1.99.
And now for something a little absurd. Nyan Cat is one of the most recent memes that has hit the Internet by storm. Now for whatever reason, you want to integrate an 8-bit animation of a cat with a cherry pop tart body flying through outer space into your iOS device, then this jailbreak tweak is for you. This tweak turns all your sliders into Nyan Cat complete with animation. You can customize several aspects of the tweak by finding it on the Settings.app. Just a fun little theming tweak to add a bit of personality into your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.
NyanSliders is available in Cydia under ModMyi repo for FREE.
RestoreTab for Safari
There's nothing much that you can fault Mobile Safari with. As a mobile web browser, it does its job quite satisfyingly but it is seriously lacking when it comes to features. Now here's a jailbreak tweak that should help enhance your web browsing experience in Mobile Safari. As you all know, accidentally closing a tab in Safari accidentally can be very annoying because there is no way to restore a closed tab, well that is until now. As its name implies, RestoreTab for Safari will enable users to restore a recently closed tab while using Mobile Safari. You can even restore your full history if you want to. A must have tweak for those who loves web surfing using their iOS devices.
RestoreTab for Safari is available in Cydia under BigBoss repo for $0.99.
Now we got another lockscreen tweak that will surely pique the interest of jailbreak junkies out there. LockGestures is a tweak that adds additional functions through touch gestures to your otherwise boring lockscreen. And when I say additional, I mean a lot. Through various touch gestures you can adjust your screen's brightness, display power option toggles, make a quick call, launch an application and many more. Touch gestures such as swipe downward with one finger and tap three times with one finger can be customized to perform your favorite actions from the lockscreen. Just configure the tweak under the iOS System Settings.
LockGestures is available in Cydia under BigBoss repo for $1.00.
And there you have it, the best jailbreak tweaks for the month of August. Of course before you can access and install all of these tweaks you need to have your device jailbroken. But in case you haven't, don't fret because we are here to help you. If you are currently running the latest iOS 4.3.5, then you can refer to our Redsn0w guide for a tethered jailbreak. But if you want the latest untethered solution then we recommend installing iOS 4.3.3 and jailbreak it using one of the following tools: Redsn0w, Sn0wbreeze, PwnageTool and JailbreakMe. If you want to share any of these tweaks to a fellow jailbreak enthusiast, then you can refer to this guide on how to copy and share direct links of Cydia apps between iOS devices.
